July 14th Sizzler

Last Sundays game conditions were Hot and Sunny with temperatures rising well above 30.  Here are the new handball stats thanks to a diligent job by BL as referee, scorekeeper and beerkeeper.

19 games played, 6 players.  Total points possible: 114

1) Bobbie Gordon - 8 wins, 84 points (av 0.737)
2) Doug Lacey 6 wins, 83 points (av 0.728)
3) Brent Forrest 3 wins, 77 points (av 0.675)
4) Shaun Forbes 2 wins, 65 points (av 0.570)
5) Ryan Swift No wins, 50 points (av. 0.439)
6) Hannah Montana - No wins, 40 points (av 0.351)

Pregame minutes include the unanimous decision to have member JC formally ejected from the team due to numerous THL infractions (putting wonderland, pinball before handball).  After a grueling 30 minutes of chalking and measuring the court to DLs totalitarian sepcs, gameplay began.  All players present took part in all games.  No serious injuries.  Post game entertainment included the usual substance abuse and BG getting locked out of his car.

June 23rd 3:30 PM

Thrill to the highlights of last Sundays game handballers.  Conditions were hot - around 32 with a steady breeze.  Near perfect handball conditions.

Honored absentees include DL who's off building a shack in the godless nether regions of Ontario, and AK who slept through handball in an attempt to best her all time record with a 48-hour sleep marathon.  Not so honorable mention goes to JC, who decided that pinball was more important than handball for the twentieth week in a row.  Down to the meat and potatoes.  A good showing by RS who demonstrated true grit with a dizzying display of backhands and aerial acrobtics - no chalk this game however. AP made a truly memorable behind the back rainbow shot from way out behind the line - alas no chalk.  AM was in fine form with a truly aggressive display of dexterity that left numerous oppotents saying "Too hell with it". 4 bars.  MdS made it up on the board with a respectable 4, while SF also joined the big boys with 4 wins.  BG and BF shared top spot with a chicken dinner each, end of day BF came out on top with a quick demolition in the sudden death tie breaker.  Post game frivolities included class C narcotics and bottled water.  Next week is cottage week so chances are handball is off until the second week of July.   Until then handballers.

2013 Season Opener

Sunny and hot with a full court for last weeks season opener. Excellent showings by Gordon, Koga, Forbes and Lacey but it was Forrest who won the day with a 6/5 score over "The Bruce". See final scores tabbed on the right. Conditions were scorching at the new court off Birchmount avenue, an afternoon of high intensity and fair play punctuated by the occasional model rocket. Young Lacey made a rare apearance, and the THL welcomes newcomer Mohammed to the roster. Hope to see you next week. We take this opportunity to remind all players to clear the damn court after your turn. No shows were Swift with a family engagment and Ciaravino with acute vagicitis. Next Sunday week players, the feild of honor awaits you.

Thought I forgot about you didn't you my little meatlings? The winter was long and unforgiving, but in the early weeks of march the Toronto handballers reunited for our premiere game. Check back soon for the stats but suffice to say that past years stats are ancient history and the 2012 handball season is in full swing. There's never been a better time to join up than this, the last year of the Mayan calendar. Armageddon tired of saying this, but I want to see all you ballets there next Sunday, rumor has it that king Wataru will even be braving the ttc to join us so be there as yesteryears champ comes by to represent japan and hopefully not break his ankle. Stats and photos coming soon.
